There are so many different ways to schedule your homeschool day, and everyone’s needs are different. Our family has tried several different schedules as our family’s needs have changed from year to year. When we had infants, preschoolers, and school aged children, life looked A LOT different than it does now with 3 school aged and one preschooler.

Our schedule changes every year and I don’t want to waste your time going over all the schedules we’ve had over the last seven years, but I do want to give you a glimpse of how we are operating this year. In sharing this, I hope it is something that is encouraging. Our schedule is not perfect and we don’t stick to it perfectly. It is just a guide to help us try to stay focused on getting our work done. Every day looks a little different with all our activities, but I am going to share with you what a normal Tuesday looks like for us.

6:30 Kids up/ Morning Chores

7:00 Breakfast/Morning Time (This is includes Bible, Memory Work, Math Games, & Handwriting with everyone)

8:00 Clean up kitchen & Get supper prepped (Child 4 leaves with hubby to be dropped off at his two-day-a-week preschool)

8:30 Language Arts with Child 2&3 while Child 1 is reading

8:45 Math for everyone

9:15 Science with Child 2&3 while Child 1 works on her Grammar and Language Workbooks

9:45 Wordly Wise with Child 1&2 and Explode the Code with Child 3

10:00 Child 1&2 read while I teach reading to Child 3

10:15 Spelling with all

10:30 History with Child 3 while Child 1&2 read or finish up unfinished work from earlier. (At this point Child 3 is done with his schoolwork)

11:00 History with Child 2 & Child 1 practice piano

11:30 History with Child 1 & Child 2 finish up work or read (At this point Child 2 is done with his schoolwork)

12:15 Lunch while we listen to Child 3’s read-a-loud on audiobook (I love this time because the kids are quite and it gives my brain a break)

1:00 Clean up kitchen & afternoon chores

1:30 Finish up school with Child 1 with Science and Language Arts (Schoolwork is officially over by this time. Sometime we get done before and sometimes it’s still not all done, but we take each day for its own)

2:15 Art and Child 2’s read-a-loud on audiobook (When I say art, it is not teaching art, they just paint or color or cut and paste) (Child 4 is home by this time)

I know this schedule seems very strict and tight with no wiggle room, but it works very nicely for us this year. Like I said before, we don’t always keep the time schedule perfectly, but we do try to keep the rhythm of order. It just helps everyone know what comes next and what they are suppose to do.

Even in the past when we didn’t have a set “timed” schedule we still stuck with the rhythm of a particular order. I just feel like everyone is happier if they know what is coming and what they are suppose to be doing.

I hope this was fun for you to see what our school day looks like. I would love to know how you schedule your day or if you even schedule it at all. Comment below and let me know.
