A few weeks ago, I was asked to be a part of a book launch group for Erin Odom’s (The Humbled Homemaker) new book, “You Can Stay Home With Your Kids!” I was thrilled to be able to read her new book because she is such an awesome women, wife, and mother. She is the real deal y’all! I have seen her in our online book launch group meetings live what she teaches and it is inspiring.

Her book is SO good and SO practical. It’s like she is giving you a pep talk to encourage you, in the beginning of each section before sharing her practical tips. You can tell she is passionate about helping you figure out how you really can stay home with your kids if that is your desire.

Each section clearly lays out ways to help you see how you can live frugally in a realistic way. The book as a whole presents you with 100 tips, tricks, and ways to make staying at home work on a budget.

Her book resonated with me because I am a stay-at-home mom and I am always trying to figure out ways to make our budget work for us. She encouraged me through her book to not give up on my budget and my efforts.

A budget was a hated thing for me for so long and I would rather have just ignored it, but that only brought more struggle. When I finally embraced the idea of letting a budget WORK FOR ME instead of the other way around, it was freeing. Erin’s book shows over and over how this principle is so true!

There are two points from her book I want to share with you that I hope will inspire you to read more.

1. She discusses the “Discipline of Contentment” (Page 62)

Y’all this is what it all boils down to, contentment with doing your best with what you have and making sacrifices to achieve your dreams. (Especially if your dream is to stay home with your kids.)

2. She uses the quote, “Be disciplined without being legalistic” (Page 109)

This is a huge issue in my life because before allowing my budget to work FOR me I felt this way. I had an “all or nothing” mentality that felt like punishment or like a hindrance from what I wanted to do. When I learned years ago, the same principles Erin is teaching in her book, it was like the shackles were removed and I could make my budget more forgiving (again, work FOR me) .

Erin’s tips in this book are quick and easy, not complicated at all!! You will be able to read this very quickly and you will learn so much. She has even written money-making ideas just in case you are interested in earning money while you stay home with your kids.

Erin’s book is for you if:

1. It’s your dream is to stay home with your kids and need help making this financially possible.

2. You already stay home with your kids, but just need some frugal tips to help you tame that unruly budget into shape.
